Abstract

One of the most interesting features of judicial work in recent years has been the reliance on formal statistical methods in adjusticative processes. The court in a number of jurisdictions, but particularly the United States, have often resorted to statistical techniques while grappling with specific problems. The extent to which this has been the case is not well-known amongst students of the administration of justice in Asia. Nor are scholars in the region fully aware of the potential usefulness of statistics in judicial proceedings. Our aim is to partly rectify this situation by providing s survey of relevent developments.
