Abstract

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has generated a significant impact within the realm of research, including studies involving interaction with Qurʾānic verses. Nevertheless, its application is not without challenges and criticisms, particularly concerning ethical dimensions such as effectiveness, transparency, and accountability in interpreting the Qurʾān. Given the close interrelationship between Qurʾānic sciences and Ḥadīth studies, this article seeks to develop an ethical model to address the challenges posed by AI interaction with the Qurʾān, grounded in the methodology of ḥadīth scholarship. This study adopts a qualitative approach by adapting grounded theory, which combines documentation of primary and secondary sources with semi-structured interviews conducted with two experts in Qurʾānic and Ḥadīth studies. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using content and thematic analysis through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The findings indicate that key principles of ḥadīth scholarship such as Gharīb al-adīth, Naqd al-adīth, and Ādāb ālib al-adīth hold strong potential to serve as the foundation for developing an AI ethical model that is both practical and integrity-driven. This article thus contributes to reinforcing the integration between Ḥadīth sciences, Qurʾānic studies, and the ethical framework for AI applications.
