The study aims to preserve the accurate definition and boundaries of exegetical principles, ensuring they are systematic, well-regulated, and closely tied to elucidating the meanings of the Quran. The researcher analyzed three of the most prominent works on the principles of exegesis and selected six exemplary principles to apply the proposed controls in a practical manner. The study employed three scientific methodologies: the inductive approach for analyzing Quranic texts, the descriptive approach for surveying the current state of exegetical principles in contemporary works, and the analytical approach for evaluating and critiquing these principles. The research yielded several key findings, including: many principles attributed to exegesis lack scientific and methodological precision; the confusion between exegetical principles and those of other disciplines (such as Islamic jurisprudence and linguistics) has weakened the scholarly structure of these principles; and there is a critical need for meticulous examination of Quranic texts to regulate exegetical principles properly. The study also affirmed that authentic exegetical principles are those directly linked to understanding and explaining the meanings of the Quran.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60927 Al-Khilāf Fī Makkiyyah Sūrat Al-Ḥajj Wa-Madaniyyatahā: Dirāsah Taḥlīliyyah 2025-05-03T16:56:11+08:00 Salwa ‘AbdulRahman al-‘Abdullah salwa_liamtoh@hotmail.com Mohammad Khazer al-Majali mkmajali@qu.edu.qa
The Chapter of Hajj is among chapters of the Qur’an about which there are divergent opinions on the place of their revelation. As a matter of fact, it attracts more intense disagreement than other chapters. Therefore, this research seeks to provide a detailed classification of the chapter regarding its place of revelation whether Makkah or Madinah. This shall be achieved through the inductive and analytical methods. On one hand, submissions of scholars from the second to the fourteenth years of Hijrah shall be gathered, while, one the other hand, factors that led to their disagreement shall be analyzed by studying different reports related to the reasons behind revelation. Equally, a comparative method shall be employed to compare between the evidences advanced in support of the two opposing claims regarding the revelation of the chapter in Madinah and/or in Makkah. This shall enable us to determine the actual period during which the chapter was revealed. In addition, the general context of the chapter shall be studied, while the thematic agreement and its relationship with the chapter shall be elucidated. Through this method, it shall be possible to achieve a precise unambiguous preponderance. In the end, the research finds that the chapter was revealed in Makkah, though it also contains some verses revealed in Madinah. The researcher recommends that there should be further studies on other chapters like al-Ra’d, al-Rahman, al-Saff, al-Taghabun, and al-Mutaffifin with similar disagreement over the place of their revelation, using the same method.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60929 Farāʾid Al-Alfāẓ Al-Qurʾāniyyah Al-Fadhdhah (Sūrat Al-Wāqiʿah Numūdhajan): Dirāsah Dalāliyyah Balāghiyyah 2025-05-03T17:02:13+08:00 Someya Salim Al-Kordi dr.sumaya2025@gmail.com
The Holy Qur’an is an eternal miracle and a divine banquet that transcends time. It serves as a source of guidance for all who seek it, each drawing from its wisdom in accordance with their diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Allah S.W bestows insight through it upon whomever He wills, and it remains inimitable in its language, structure, script, and eloquence. This study explores one of the Qur’an’s exceptional linguistic phenomena: the occurrence of unique Fara’id, also known as Qur’anic Hapax Legomena. These are words that appear only once throughout the entire Qur’an and do not reoccur in any form—neither as a root nor as a derivative. These distinctive words, referred to as Qur’anic Fara’id, represent a phenomenon worthy of scholarly investigation. Their uniqueness raises two fundamental questions: Why were these particular words chosen over others? And why do they not appear elsewhere in any form? These questions serve as the foundation for this study, which seeks to examine the linguistic and semantic significance of these unique terms. Surah Al-Waqi‘ah has been selected as a case study to analyze the occurrences of Fara’id, exploring their lexical meanings and their impact on the broader interpretive context. By doing so, this research aims to shed light on an aspect of the Qur’an’s extraordinary rhetorical and linguistic inimitability. I humbly askAllah for guidance and success in this endeavor.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60913 Tarjīḥāt al-imām Abī Ḥayyān al-Andalusī li-ḥurūf al-maʿānī wa-atharuhā fī al-tafsīr: Namādhij taṭbīqiyyah 2025-05-02T17:54:29+08:00 Saeed Bin Abdullah Alkhatiri saeedalkatere000@gmail.com Hasan Salem Habshan hhabshan@sharjah.ac.ae
The letters of meanings have received great attention from scholars of interpretation and grammarians. Since they occur frequently in the surahs of the Holy Qur’an, and because of the importance of these letters and the color of their connotations, this research addresses the letters of meanings in the use of grammarians and interpreters of the Holy Qur’an. Abu Hayyan was one of those who spoke extensively about the meanings of the letters of meanings, through his discussions and interpretations through his interpretation of Al-Bahr Al-Muhit, by presenting Some examples in which the discussion was mentioned and which have a preference according to Abu Hayyan, and an analysis of that disagreement and Abu Hayyan’s evidence in that regard, then expressing an opinion on this preference. The research followed the inductive and analytical method. This is through extrapolating the areas in which there is disagreement in the letters of the meanings, analyzing them, and arriving at a preference. One of the most prominent findings of the researchers is that Abu Hayyan is one of the most prominent scholars of language and interpretation who meant the letters of the meanings and the weighting between their meanings more than others, and that the ruling in the weighting between the meanings of the letters is the usage. And the context, and most of Abu Hayyan’s arguments are in their correct place.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60934 Al-Qurʾān al-Karīm fī al-Fikr al-Ḥadāthī: al-Tashrīʿ wa-al-Waḥy wa-al-Taʾwīl: Muʾassasat Muʾminūn bilā Ḥudūd Namūdhajan 2025-05-03T17:28:07+08:00 Sameer Abo Ayash ayyash.sameer2012@gmail.com Ali Ali Gobaili Saged saged@um.edu.my Azmil bin Zainal Abidin hadiqah_irfan@um.edu.my
This study aims to shed light on the position of modernists regarding the Qur'an in matters of legislation, revelation, and interpretation. The reason for selecting the "Mominoun Without Borders Foundation" as a model for this research is that it leads to modernist discourse in contemporary times. This foundation is considered one of the modern institutions that have contributed to uniting modernists, publishing their works, and shaping their approach to dealing with the Qur'an.

The foundation’s position is reflected in its methodology, which includes calling for reevaluating the sanctity of Islamic legislative sources, foremost among them the Qur'an. It also views revelation as a form of madness experienced by the Prophet ﷺ, favoring a human rather than divine origin of revelation. The study seeks to examine the issue of arbitrary interpretation of Qur'anic texts. Through its writers and researchers, the foundation has theorized and promoted a new type of interpretation among Muslims, both individually and collectively. This interpretation is described as lacking the proper standards of correct hermeneutics, as will be explained in this study. Through research, I reached several conclusions: 1. The foundation relies on absolute reasoning, prioritizing intellect over the texts of the Qur'an. 2. There is intellectual chaos in presenting ideas aimed at fragmenting the Arab and Islamic intellect. 3. The foundation has stripped the Qur'an of its sanctity, reducing its verses to ordinary texts. This has led to a lack of adherence to the Qur'an and its guidance among many of the foundation’s followers. 4. The modernists in "Mominoun Without Borders" have employed Western tools to study the Qur'an, borrowing them from the West and Orientalists without considering the differences between the Islamic and Western environments, or the unsuitability of modernist thought for the Arab and Islamic context. 5. The foundation views the Qur'an as a historical text, revealed for a specific period and not for all times. In my study, I employed the descriptive method to present and review the ideas of the "Mominoun Without Borders Foundation," as well as the analytical and critical method to analyze, critique, and comment on their ideas and texts.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60935 Al-Khalīfah wa-Al-Istikhlāf fī Ḍawʾ al-Qurʾān al-Karīm: Abʿād Dīniyyah wa-Akhlāqiyyah wa-ʿUmrāniyyah 2025-05-03T17:34:53+08:00 Fatma Saad AL-Naimi Fatmasalnaimi@qu.edu.qa
This research examines the concept of the Caliph and Succession in the light of the Holy Quran through an objective analysis that explores its meanings and dimensions, including religious, social, and civilizational aspects. The study addresses the misunderstanding of the term, as many limit it to a political perspective while overlooking its broader implications. The research highlights the importance of presenting a comprehensive Quranic vision, correcting misconceptions, and linking Quranic concepts to reality. It aims to analyze the meaning of Caliph, differentiate it from Succession, clarify the Quranic conditions for Succession, and explore its various dimensions. The study employs an inductive and analytical methodology, examining relevant Quranic verses and extracting their meanings. The key findings indicate that the Caliph in the Quran is not merely a political ruler but is responsible for fulfilling servitude to God, establishing justice, and reforming the earth. Furthermore, Succession is conditioned upon faith and righteous deeds, and the failure of nations to meet these conditions leads to their replacement. Thus, the concept of Succession necessitates adherence to God's guidance to achieve empowerment and stability.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60936 Al-Ibistimūlūjiyā Al-Jadaliyyah Fī Al-Qurʾān: Dirāsah Muqāranah Bayna Al-Sufsṭāʾiyyah Wa-Al-Dāyiliktīk: ʿarḍ Wa-Muqāranah 2025-05-03T17:40:31+08:00 Mohammad Abdelhamid Salem Qatawneh qatawneh@um.edu.my Fatema Alzahraa Alsied Aly f.alzahraa@qu.edu.qa Amal Abdallah Al-Naimat a.neimat@ju.edu.jo Yaser Ahmed Salem Rababah rababah.yaseer@yahoo.com
This study attempted to show the importance of the Qur’anic controversy in the manifestation of truth and its role in the approach and harmony between the mental side and the innate and controversial side to arrive at the ascertained truth. It also aimed to unveil the philosophical approaches (Sophisticism and Dialectics) as two examples of the Western mind and method of argument and protest. The study further tried to contribute in reflecting accurately the concept of the Quranic controversy and its implementations. Besides, the study explained the Western philosophical approaches, its foundations and cognitive and philosophical theories. Furthermore, it tried to recognize the Quranic argumentations and its applications and approach and to explain the controversial rules that the Quran practiced when arguing with the opponent. In this context, the study used the comparative and descriptive approach which compares between texts that concern the foundations and methods of Sophisticism and Dialecticism and their approaches in tackling the concept of philosophy on one side and the Holy Quran on the other. The study found out that the sophist argument is based on the principle of absolute suspicion that does not recognize the truth of certainty. The study also revealed the roots of the dialectic controversy which is based on the perpetuation of conflict from reality to though and vice versa. The study further described the Holy Quran with its scientific method to reach the facts through the proof and sensual and mental evidence that require the safety of instinct and non-acceptance of controversy that is based on the role and the infinite sequence in theory and reality. The purpose of the Qur’anic debate is to reach certainty, the comprehensiveness of its methodology, its foundations and its structure in the concept of controversy and its ability to solve outstanding intellectual problems. As such, the study explained the concept of controversy linguistically and idiomatically, defined the concept of controversy in Sophisticism and Dialecticism, and clarified the philosophical foundations that paved the way for such international approaches in relation to controversy and its comparison with the Quranic approach. The study also used examples to show the intelligent approach practiced by the Quran both at the theoretical and practical levels of the concept of controversy in terms of goals, foundations and even the aesthetical and ethical sides.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/60937 Al-Iʿjāz Al-Lisānī fī Al-Qurʾān: Dirāsah Taḥlīliyyah Muqāranah 2025-05-03T17:52:47+08:00 Ahmed Qasim a.qasim@uoa.edu.iq Ahmed Abdulrazzaq ahmed.alsaadi@uoa.edu.iq Mohammed Dawood ed.mohammed.dawood@uoanbar.edu.iq
This research aims to It is changing two words used "Language Miracle" to "Linguistic Miracle" in Quranic Studies, Because the word "language" did not come in the Qur'an; Whereas the word “tongue” came in the Qur’an, and this is in keeping completely with the Qur’anic style, The research problem is that Literature Review studied the Holy Qur’an according to linguistic theories; However, our study read linguistic theories from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an, It is the first study to prove that all linguistic theories, old and new, were preceded by the Holy Qur’an in terms of their origin and concept, or an explanation of the extent of benefit from them (to a certain extent) in reading the Qur’anic text, or some of its texts, The development of the linguistic theories themselves and their contradiction with each other is a Quranic approach to proving the Quranic linguistic theory or truth. It further seeks to demonstrate the impact of these readings on rare and unfamiliar vocabulary (gharīb al-lugha), as well as their connection to dialectal variation and morphological derivation. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology through an introductory investigation into Al-Ṣāḥib ibn ʿAbbād, his dictionary, its characteristics, and its position within the tradition of Arabic lexicography. In addition, an applied analytical approach is employed to examine the influence of Quranic readings on rare lexical items through selected examples. The study concludes that Quranic readings constitute an essential and authentic source for enriching Arabic lexicons, as they help uncover new meanings and clarify obscure or unfamiliar terms. It also reveals the strong connection between the diversity of Quranic readings and the development of individual lexical items.
2025-04-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://sare.um.edu.my/index.php/quranica/article/view/61070 Āthār Manhajiyyat Tafsīr Jam‘iyyat al-‘Ulamā’ al-Muslimīn al-Jazā’iriyyīn ‘alā al-Mujtama‘ al-Jazā’irī 2025-05-08T13:50:24+08:00 Kamel Hayoune Kamel.hayoune30@gmail.com Mustaffa Abdullah mustaffa@um.edu.my Muhamad Alihanafiah Norasid imtiaz_alhuffaz@um.edu.my
The study titled " The Influence of The Quranic Exegetical Methodology of the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars on Algerian Society" examined the comprehensive characteristics and rules of the association's exegetical methodology.
